Public Exhibition of Homebush TOD Masterplan
For immediate release
16 July 2024
The NSW Government has placed a Masterplan for the Homebush Transit Oriented Development Precinct, located in an area north of Homebush Railway Station, on public exhibition until 5pm, Friday 16 August 2024. The Masterplan includes proposed changes to Strathfield’s Local Environmental Plan such as amendments to permissible heights of buildings and floor space to accommodate increased residential supply and support employment growth. Detailed design guidelines for built form and public spaces are also on exhibition.
The NSW Government’s Transit Oriented Development program is a land use planning approach that encourages sustainable and mixed-use development around public transport stations and aims to create vibrant and walkable communities.
Strathfield Council is committed to the delivery of neighbourhoods which have early and easy access to adequate infrastructure such as affordable housing, schools, community spaces, and public and active transport. Council will also be advocating for design excellence in built form as well as public spaces to maximise the amenity of each new neighbourhood for residents, businesses and visitors.
Council will now review the information on public exhibition and make a submission to the State Government. Community feedback and engagement is an important part of the public exhibition process, and Council recommends residents and businesses review the available information to understand the proposed changes. Exhibition material for the Homebush TOD Masterplan are now available and submissions can be made via the NSW Government’s Planning Portal.
Strathfield Council remains committed to delivering the objectives of the TOD Program and share the NSW Government’s vision of the precinct. However, long term growth must be supported by long term investment in critical local and community infrastructure. Council looks forward to a continued partnership with the NSW Government in the delivery of the Homebush Masterplan, now and into the future.
