Air Pollution
To report air pollution telephone please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 9748 9999 and provide the colour, location, time you saw it, and the details of the person/address responsible (if you know) or contact the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) pollution line on 13 15 55.
Air pollution can also be produced by industrial premises through business activities such as dust, odours and poorly maintained equipment. If businesses are found to be knowingly contributing to local air pollution, they face on the spot fines of $1500 or prosecution.
Slow combustion wood heaters are a major contributor to air pollution, particularly in the cooler months of the year. Information on the proper use of slow combustion wood heaters and ways to minimise the pollution output from such heaters can be found on the EPA website.

Backyard burning including burning of vegetation and domestic waste and the use of incinerators is prohibited in the Strathfield Local Government Area and is subject to on-the-spot fines.

Cultural or religious events are subject to Council approval and current fire restrictions.
